Spotting Fake IT Support Interactions
in Security, Tech Updates
Comments
Hackers will use any knowledge they can obtain to craft particularly believable attacks. That includes impersonating your IT partner such us at Erickson Solutions Group.
Tips to spot and address fake IT requests:
- If you are contacted by someone claiming to be Erickson Solutions Groups via Teams, on social media, or over the phone, ask them to send you an email from their erickson.solutions email address. Hang up / cease communicating with anyone not able to do so.
- Pay close attention to the email domain, as scammers often spoof a legitimate email address. Erickson Solutions Group uses only two domains.. erickson.solutions and ericksonsolutionsgroup.com
- Keep in mind that fraudulent emails and invoices may include ESG’s name, logo, and/or the purported names/signatures of actual employees to seem legitimate.
- Do not allow anyone to remotely connect to your system unless you are both expecting and ESG contact and have an email from the ESG technician confirming they will be reaching out.
- If you are unsure of the identity of the sender of a communication, do not click on any links.
- Trust your instincts. If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of a call, text, Teams call, meeting, or an email purporting to be from a ESG employee or claiming a connection to ESG, contact us at support@erickson.solutions
